"It'll take Congress 7 lifetimes": Himanta Slams Congress On Cow Slaughter Stand
Digital Desk: In a fiery dig at the Congress Party, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday declared that ''it'll take Congress seven lifetimes to declare cow slaughter a crime.
The Chief Minister stated that cow sacrifice is not required under Islamic law. "Qurbani can be of other animals too. BJP dares to urge people that—on the next Eid, please offer a goat, not a cow," he stated.
Sarma further accused the Congress of being silent on the issue of beef sales near temples, naamghars (Vaishnavite prayer halls), and public areas. "Has Congress ever protested against beef being openly sold in such places?" he said, adding that the BJP's position is based on conviction rather than vote-bank politics.
Congress has not yet officially responded to the remark. As political temperatures rise ahead of upcoming elections, such statements are once again placing faith, identity, and tradition at the heart of the national debate.
