Agra IT firm manager opts suicide, accusing wife of harassment in video

Digital Desk: An IT firm manager in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide after allegedly being harassed by his wife. Manav Sharma shot an emotional video before taking his own life, crying and holding a rope around his neck. In the video, which has become viral on social media, Sharma claims that his wife is having an illicit affair.

Reportedly, Sharma was found dangling in his home on February 24.

The victim's father has filed a police report, but no arrests have been made yet. The event has prompted analogies to the recent suicide of Atul Subhash in Bengaluru.

Sharma was found dead in a video, pleading for authorities to protect men. “Think about men," he stated. He also said not to touch his parents after his death.

Sharma had attempted suicide earlier, and his father filed a complaint at the Sadar police station, blaming his daughter-in-law for his son's death.

Whereas, Sharma's wife denied the accusations and alleged that her husband had been struggling with alcohol addiction and self-harm. She saved him three times and reported him to his in-laws, but they ignored her pleas. Sharma's wife claimed that her husband had self-harmed himself and had attempted suicide multiple times.

Regarding the claims of infidelity, she stated, "That happened before our marriage. Nothing occurred after we married."

According to Agra's senior cop, no arrests have been made in the case yet.

"The military hospital in Agra informed us that a person named Manav had been brought in a deceased state. It was eventually discovered that he had died by hanging. "No arrests have been made thus far," ASP Vinayak Gopal stated.

According to a police officer, the victim's postmortem was carried out after multiple tries.

"His phone was locked, but his sister had the password. When the phone was unlocked, the footage was recovered. The video revealed that he had a bad relationship with his wife, which drove him to commit suicide," the official stated.

The case has prompted analogies to a recent occurrence in Bengaluru in which an IT engineer committed suicide under identical circumstances.
