Alimony Of ₹4 Lakh Per Month: Calcutta HC Orders Mohammed Shami To Alienated Wife & Daughter

Digital Desk: The Calcutta High Court ordered Indian bowler Mohammed Shami to pay his estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, and daughter a monthly alimony of ₹4 lakh for maintenance during their ongoing legal fight.

Hasin Jahan accused Mohammed Shami of domestic abuse; she also accused Shami of dowry harassment and match-fixing, as well as failing to carry financial responsibility for her family's expenses.

Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee on Tuesday passed an order, stating, "In my considered opinion, a sum of ₹1,50,000 per month to the petitioner No. 1 (wife) and ₹2,50,000 to her daughter would be just fair and reasonable to ensure financial stability for both the petitioners till disposal of the main application."

The order added, "However, as regards petitioner's child, the husband or opposite party No. 2 will always be at liberty to voluntarily assist her with educational and/or other reasonable expenses, over and above the aforesaid amount."

After an appeal, the ruling was modified, ordering Shami to pay ₹50,000 monthly to his wife and ₹80,000 to his daughter.

With the legal chapter continuing, this decision marks a step toward ensuring stability for Mohammad Shami's estranged wife and daughter.
