It is to be mentioned that Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former state's chief minister, established the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in 2007 to extend the tourist season in Jammu and Kashmir, which was formerly limited to the summer and winter months.
Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the garden will be open to the public after color-packed tulips blossom, according to floriculture department officials.

Asif Ahmad, the tulip garden's assistant floriculture officer, told PTI that the garden would be made public on March 26.
He noted that this year, the department has planted two new tulip kinds in the garden.
Earlier, in 2023, there were 3.65 lakh visitors to the garden, compared to around 4.65 lakh the previous year, both local and foreign.
Every year, we experiment with something new for the tulip garden. This year, we are developing a new color palette. The number of tulips has increased to 74 with the addition of two new types," he continued.
There will also be additional springtime blooms on exhibit, including cyclamens, muscari, daffodils, and hyacinths.
The garden, which covers 55 hectares, has over 17 lakh tulip bulbs planted, Ahmad added.
