Black Day for India: 6th Anniversary Of Pulwama Attack, tribute to Brave soldiers

Digital Desk: (February 14, 2019) A day to be remembered by every Indian, today marks the 6th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attacks in the country’s history.

On this day 40 valiant soldiers lost their lives when a suicide bomber targeted a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, on that fatal afternoon.

The sixth anniversary of the Pulwama attack serves as a sobering reminder of the heroes' sacrifices and a clear call to action in the war against terrorism.

On February 14, 2019, at about 3:15 p.m., a suicide bomber driving an explosives-laden SUV plowed into a CRPF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

The impact of the explosion was severe, demolishing a bus carrying the soldiers and killing 40 on the scene. The terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. The magnitude of the tragedy stunned the entire country, causing tremendous grief and outrage.

The attack prompted strong condemnation from the political spectrum and the international community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised a firm response, saying, "The sacrifices of our brave security personnel will not be in vain." Vigils and protests were organized across the country, with locals honoring the slain soldiers.

On the sixth anniversary, the nation joins together once more to honour the courageous CRPF personnel who gave their lives to the country.

Memorial ceremonies are being set up around the country, particularly in Pulwama and the martyrs' hometowns. The CRPF commemorates the day with solemn ceremonies honoring those who were killed.
