Breaking: Grand Oath-taking Ceremony of Delhi CM to be held on Feb 20 at Ramlila Maidan—reports

Digital Desk: Big announcement rings in for Delhi; the next chief minister (CM) of Delhi will take oath on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan, the national capital's renowned site.

In the Delhi Assembly Election 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) beat the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with the results declared on February 8.

According to sources, the saffron party intends to make the event memorable as it returns to power in the national capital after 27 years.

There is no formal announcement yet on who the chief minister and his six ministers will be, but they are scheduled to take oath at 4:30 PM on February 20. The names will probably be decided during the February 19 legislative party conference of the saffron party.

Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh), Vijender Gupta (Rohini), Satish Upadhyay (Malviya Nagar), Ashish Sood (Janakpuri), Pawan Sharma (Uttam Nagar), and Ajay Mahawar (Ghonda) are the contendors running for chief minister post.

The BJP's senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be present at the formal event on Thursday, along with members from the party's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies.

Notably, up till 1998, the late Sushma Swaraj served as chief minister of Delhi's final BJP administration. The Congress ruled for 15 years until 2013, and then the AAP government ruled for two terms, from 2015 to 2025.

However, the question arises over delaying the CM oath-taking; it may be noted that PM Modi's visit to France and the United States, the Budget Session of Parliament, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's presence in town for the 'pravesh' celebration of the new RSS office in Delhi might be attributed as the reason for the hold.
