Digital Desk: In a shocking incident on Thursday night, three men allegedly gang raped two women in Karnataka, including a 27-year-old Israeli tourist and a homestay owner. The horrifying incident took place while they and three other travelers were stargazing on the calm banks of a canal in Koppal, which is roughly 350 kilometers from Bengaluru, a tech powerhouse.
Before targeting the women, the accused shoved the other three people into the canal. Daniel from the United States and Pankaj, a traveler from Maharashtra, were able to swim out, but Bibash from Odisha drowned. The body was discovered on Saturday morning.
According to ANI, the Karnataka Police arrested two people on Saturday in connection with the alleged gangrape.
The two arrested accused have been identified as Sai Mallu and Chethan Sai, both Gangavathi residents.
According to the police, the women are getting treatment at a government hospital.
In her complaint, the 29-year-old homestay owner said that the accused appeared on a bike after she and the four guests had gone stargazing on the banks of the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal after dinner.
They started by asking where they might purchase petrol and then demanded Rs 100 from the travelers. When they were refused, they attacked the travelers, shoved the males into the canal, and raped women, according to the complaint. Following the crime, they left on their motorcycle.
Firefighters and the police's dog squad searched for the missing tourist, who was subsequently discovered dead.
According to the complaint, a police case has been filed for rape, gang-rape, and robbery.
