PM Modi begins five-day tour to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia for G7 Summit

Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a five-day tour of Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia on Sunday, his first foreign visit since India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK).

"This three-nation tour is also an opportunity to thank partner countries for their steadfast support to India in our fight against cross-border terrorism, and to galvanize global understanding on tackling terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," stated Prime Minister Modi in a press release.

His five-day overseas vacation will begin with a trip to Cyprus from June 15 to 16. He will then travel to Kananaskis, Canada, for the G7 Summit on June 16-17. The final leg of the journey will take him to Croatia on June 18, with a return slated for June 19.

PM Modi will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in areas such as commerce, investment, security, and technology.

This will be the Indian Prime Minister's first visit to Cyprus in more than 20 years.

The visit is intended to emphasize India's position on global concerns such as energy security, technological collaboration, and innovation. The visit also represents a dramatic shift in India-Canada ties, following suspicions of possible links between Indian agents and the murder of Khalistan rebel Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

After the G7 Summit, PM Modi will go to Croatia to meet President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. This is the first time an Indian Prime Minister will visit Croatia.
