Pune Rape case: After 75 Hours accused in connection with case arrested; Drones and Dogs used to hunt down
Digital Desk: On Friday, Dattatraya Ramdas Gade, the man suspected of raping a 26-year-old lady inside a bus at Pune's Swargate bus station, was taken into custody.
After about seventy-five hours of manhunting, Gade was taken into custody from the Shrirur Tehsil.
Moving back to the incident, the woman was raped on Tuesday morning, 100 yards from a police station, on a bus at the city's Swargate Bus Stand, one of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation's (MSRTC) main bus depots. Between 5.45 and 6 a.m., the victim was waiting to board a bus to her hometown in the Satara area.
Before the Incident
According to the victim, the accused started a discussion with her and addressed her as 'didi' (sister). He informed her that the bus to Satara had arrived at another platform and then led her to an empty bus (Shiv Shahi AC bus) parked on the premises. She was hesitant to board the bus because the lights inside were not turned on, but the man persuaded her that it was the correct vehicle, according to the victim, who works in the medical area.
Gade chased her onto the bus and raped her, after that gade has been on the run. Reportedly, many cases of robbery and chain-snatching cases are also registered in his name.
A total of 13 police units were sent to different parts of Maharashtra to apprehend the defendant. Additionally, drones and sniffer dogs were used in the search. A search operation was initiated by Pune City and Pune Rural Police in Gunat village, which included sugarcane fields.
Earlier, a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh had previously been offered by the Pune police to anyone who could furnish information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.
