Raja Raghuvanshi Murder case unveils horrifying truths; Meghalaya Police Recreate Crime Scene-deets here
Digital Desk: In a tragic twist to the mystery death of 29-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi, Meghalaya Police on Monday replicated the crime scene at the now-infamous Wei Sawdong Falls in Sohra, where Raja was brutally murdered.
The reconstruction revealed chilling details concerning a murder reportedly planned by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, just days after their marriage.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) sent police teams to many important places related to the investigation to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to Raja's murder. The accused, including lead suspect Sonam, were taken into police custody at Shillong Sadar Police Station to act out their roles.
Meghalaya Police Involvement in Case
Addressing the media, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said, "Recreation of the incident has gone well, multiple places were visited, and we've got a clear picture, the weapon used in the murder is also being recovered."
Syiem further stated, "We started in the parking lot where the suspects had parked their two-wheelers. From there, we walked to the viewpoint and meticulously recreated each individual's locations and moves prior to the attack."
What really happened?
Sonam allegedly signaled the group to carry out the murder before they arrived at the place. According to officials, she was standing near Raja during the assault, with the attackers deliberately positioned around him—Vishal to his right, Anand to his left, and Akash just behind.
The police disclosed that Vishal, Anand, and Akash were the three individuals who killed Raja in quick succession. Vishal threw the first punch, which caught Raja off guard and was so powerful that he collapsed immediately. Sonam ran away as Raja yelled in agony.
Following the killing, the trio reportedly brought Raja's body to the gorge's edge and flung him down, with two holding his hands and the third holding his legs.
Syiem confirmed that Raja was killed at the location identified during the reenactment and that the murder weapon, a machete, had been discovered.
SP Syiem revealed that Sonam played an important role not only in the planning but also in the execution of the murder. She allegedly damaged Raja's phone first, which was then destroyed by Vishal in an attempt to eliminate digital proof.
"She admitted to her role. Today's reconstruction has revealed everything, from her position at the scene to her exact actions. This was premeditated. She knew what was going to happen," Syiem explained.
Raja and Sonam, who married in May, went on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. On May 23, they vanished.
Later, Raja's lifeless body was discovered in a gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls, resulting in a manhunt for Sonam.
As the inquiry progressed, Sonam was accused of planning with her lover and hiring three men to commit the murder. She went on the run for several days until surrendering to authorities in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9.
