Champions Trophy 2025 Final: India to face New Zealand in Dubai
Digital Desk: India and New Zealand will compete in a major white- ball cricket competition final in 25 years. After defeating South Africa in the second semi-final in Lahore on Wednesday, New Zealand guaranteed their spot in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. The Black Caps will now take on their old foes, India, on Sunday in Dubai.
India became the first team to reach the final after defeating Australia by four wickets in Dubai on Tuesday. Now, New Zealand will face the Rohit Sharma-led team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and have the chance to exact vengeance for their most recent Group A loss to India.
India and New Zealand last faced each other in a title match in the 2021 ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton, where the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand team defeated India by eight wickets.
Remarkably, these two teams haven't faced off in a white-ball event final since the ICC Knockout Trophy in Nairobi in 2000. On that day, New Zealand defeated India by four wickets to win their first ICC title.
