India’s buoyant test player Cheteshwar Pujara announces retirement from All-formats of Cricket

Digital Desk: A career characterized by quiet tenacity and subtle genius came to an end on Sunday after Cheteshwar Pujara, one of India's most reliable Test cricket players of the modern era, announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket.

With 7,195 runs at an average of 43.60, including 19 hundreds in 103 games, Pujara retired as India's eighth-highest run scorer in Test cricket. Even though his average may have suffered due to a slump in his later career, his overall contribution is still significant.

Pujara, being emotional, posted his heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Thank you for all the love and support."

Rajkot-born Pujara, renowned for his unwavering focus and traditional style, played the majority of his career at number three in the batting order, where he was expected to anchor innings and frequently endure extreme pressure.

Through unwavering determination and a series of game-changing performances, especially in foreign settings, Pujara established his own niche.

In 2023, Pujara made his final appearance for India at The Oval against Australia. Selectors have since ignored him as the BCCI has looked to invest in more youthful players for the future. He has recently been observed commentating on India's international matches.

Although India has produced outstanding batsmen, few have been able to cope with pressure and hold onto an innings like Pujara.

Fans find it difficult, but life goes on! The game will always be impacted by Cheteshwar Pujara, who served as a reminder of the value of perseverance, self-control, and subtle brilliance.
