HBS 2.0 - Himanta Biswa Sarma Takes Oath as Assam CM for 2nd Consecutive Term; Four Ministers Take Oath Alongside

Digital Desk: Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as Assam's Chief Minister for a second term on Tuesday, bringing the BJP-led NDA government back to power for the third time in a row.

At a magnificent event conducted on the Veterinary College playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered Sarma's oath of office and secrecy.

The high-profile event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, other Union ministers, chief ministers from various states, and senior NDA officials.

In the recently ended Assam Assembly elections, the NDA won 102 seats out of 126, with the BJP gaining 82.

On May 12, four ministers, including representatives from the BJP's partners AGP and BPF, took oath as ministers in Assam's new NDA administration, alongside Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog are the ministers who took the oath today.

Earlier, Sarma announced the names of the ministers in a post on X, stating that they would take oath in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
