Indian national footballer Durga Boro officially announces retirement from professional football
Digital Desk: Pride of Assam and the football court, Durga Boro, an Indian national legendary footballer, announced his retirement from professional football on Saturday, capping off a successful career that included national events including the Indian Super League (ISL) and the Subroto Cup.
The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and Assam Football Association (AFA) collaborated to stage a spectacular farewell event at Kokrajhar SAI Stadium.
Boro's retirement closes a historic chapter in northern Indian football. His rise from regional competitions to national fame cemented his position as one of Assam's most visible athletic ambassadors.
Boro made his final appearance on the field during the evening's exhibition match between Assam Eleven FC and Bodoland FC. The seasoned player concluded years of commitment to the game with an emotional performance in front of friends and longtime teammates.
"My life and passion have been football." I am appreciative of all the love and encouragement I have received over the years. I retire with pride and joy, and this moment is emotional," Boro said during the ceremony.
