Renaming India-England trophy: Pataudi legacy must be preserved, says Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar

Digital Desk: Former Indian Cricketer, Master Balster Sachin Tendulkar, has committed to protect the Pataudi family's heritage after learning that the India-England Test series will be called the 'Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy'.

The ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) stated that the trophy, which has been competed in bilateral Test series since 2007, will be renamed beginning in 2025.

The trophy-revealing event was initially scheduled for June 14 but was rescheduled owing to the devastating Air India airline tragedy in Ahmedabad.

"We must preserve the Pataudi legacy. We are all inspired by the Pataudi family's contribution to Indian cricket. I told the family that I would do everything in my power to continue the tradition. Tendulkar told RevSportz, "I also talked to Jay Shah, the BCCI, and the ECB, and I shared my thoughts."

It turns out that the series will continue to be known by the name "Pataudi." According to reports, the organizers have chosen to award the Pataudi Medal of Excellence to the victorious captain after each series.

Tendulkar clarified that during his talks with important decision-makers, he did everything in his power to guarantee that everyone agreed on the significance of protecting the Pataudi legacy.

The Pataudi family has a rich cricketing history that connects India and England. Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi represented both countries, while his son, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, captained India in 40 Tests and led the team to its first overseas series victory in New Zealand in 1967.
