End Of A Connection: Imphal Airport Losses Air India After Decades
Digital Desk: Final departure marks the end of an aviation era in Manipur. Air India officially ceased its operations at Imphal International Airport on June 15, concluding decades of its continuous service in Manipur.
The Tata Group, which presently owns Air India, implemented the change as part of a long-term strategic plan. Moving forward, Air India Express, the group's low-cost subsidiary, will be operating the Imphal route.
The airport stated that the Air India Express will promptly take over the operations, assuring ongoing connection to the area.
Imphal Airport posted the following on its official social media page, informing people of the change-- “After decades of distinguished service, Air India is concluding its operations at Imphal International Airport, bringing to close a significant chapter in the aviation history of Manipur, today, the 15th of June, 2025.”
