Manipur: Arambai Tenggol leader arrested in murder of differently abled man
Digital Desk: A top leader of the Meitei organization Arambai Tenggol (AT) has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a differently abled man in Manipur's Imphal West district, police said Monday.
Longjam Khaba Singh (35), a Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong resident, was arrested on Sunday at Mongsangei Makha Leikai near the Puthiba Laibung Complex.
Police have named him as the primary suspect in the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai.
On June 11 evening, Kadir went missing, later his body was found buried at Samurou Naorem on June 17 following a long search. The victim's family, a forensic team, and an executive magistrate accompanied the burial of the remains.
Ten individuals, including seven members of Arambai Tenggol, have been arrested in a murder case in the Imphal Valley. A criminal case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway, causing widespread condemnation from Muslim organizations.
