Meghalaya: Man Surrenders Before Police, Confesses Killing His Wife

Digital Desk: In a tragic course of events, a man named Donald Sohtun allegedly murdered his wife at a leased property in Nongrah, Nonglum, Shillong.

"The individual identified as Donald Sohtun has been taken into custody after he surrendered himself before the police," stated East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, while addressing the media.

The police have arrested Donald Sohtun in connection with the alleged murder. "Donald suspected his wife, Priya Khongstia, of being in a relationship with another man," SP Syiem remarked.

"They got into a heated argument, and he struck her (on the head with a stone)," Syiem added.

Donald reportedly fled the rented residence after encasing his wife's body in a bedsheet. Priya's body was recovered three days later, on May 30, after her family filed a formal complaint.

When asked, the SP verified that police and a forensic team quickly arrived at the crime scene to begin the investigation.

Police deployed sniffer dogs to locate the stone that was allegedly used in the murder.

"We are treating this as a sensitive and special case, and legal proceedings will follow shortly," stated SP Syiem.

Donald Sohtun has been placed into judicial detention while the investigation is still underway.
