Meghalaya HC Appoints Special Officer to Probe Hawkers’ Relocation Case; Next Hearing in August

Digital Desk: The Meghalaya Street Vendors and Hawkers Association filed a petition against the state government's proposed hawker relocation, which was considered by the Meghalaya High Court on 3rd July, 2025 (Thursday) .

Both parties made their arguments and counterclaims during the hearing. Upon the basis of hearing, the Court ordered the appointment of a Special Officer to carry out a thorough examination into the case after carefully weighing the submissions. A thorough report from the appointed officer is anticipated before the subsequent hearing.

P. Yobin, the Association's legal counsel, told reporters that the case's next hearing has been set for the first week of August.
