Tim David Suspended for IPL 2027 Season Opener Over Disciplinary Breach

Digital Desk: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)  batter Tim David, has been fined 50% of his match fee and received two demerit points for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans.

The incident occurred when David aggressively threw an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon in the 10th over of the first innings. This action violated Article 2.9 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which prohibits throwing any cricket equipment, including water bottles, at or near players, officials, or others in an inappropriate or dangerous manner.

This fine is particularly significant as David has now accumulated five demerit points throughout the IPL season.

As a consequence of his infractions, he will face suspension from Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first match in the upcoming IPL season or the first match with any franchise he represents in IPL 2027.

Notably, this marks David's third Level 1 offence for the season, following his initial infraction during Match 20, which resulted in one demerit point, and a subsequent offence in Match 54, accruing two demerit points.
