Digital Desk: The famous Assamese Japi has been used to adorn the entrance gate of the revered Kedarnath Temple.
Over 12,000 people visited the Kedarnath shrine in the Himalayas.
The sacred Kedarnath temple in the Himalayas opened its doors today at 7 a.m., with over 12,000 pilgrims in attendance, according to the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC).
The temple, located at an elevation of more than 11,000 feet, was elegantly decked with 108 quintals of 54 different kinds of flowers, including roses and marigolds from Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
The ceremonial opening began at 5 a.m., with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attending and performing the first puja, praying for peace and prosperity.
This year's highlight for pilgrims will be a magnificent aarti at the Mandakini and Saraswati river confluence, inspired by the legendary Ganga Aarti of Varanasi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.
