IMD warns of thunderstorms, Heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Guwahati
Digital Desk: A severe weather warning has been issued for Guwahati by the India Meteorological Department, which predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours along with thunderstorms and lightning.
The forecast indicates that the city may see a period of heavy rainfall of two to three centimeters per hour, which could cause waterlogging and possibly interfere with daily life. According to the weather pattern, the majority of Guwahati is expected to experience rainfall and thunderstorm activity during this time.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. In its formal advisory, the authority said, "ASDMA requests all the people of Guwahati to take all necessary precautions and remain vigilant."
Citywide emergency response systems have been triggered to keep a close eye on the situation. During periods of high rainfall, the public is advised to stay indoors whenever feasible and to stay away from areas that are vulnerable to waterlogging.
