Union HM Amit Shah all set to visit Assam on Aug 29
Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is all set to visit Assam on August 29 to kickstart Assam Assembly polls with War bugle.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to kickstart its campaign for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections with a massive ‘Panchayat Sanmilan’ on August 29, to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Amit Shah's visit to Assam will include a packed schedule, with two official government events and the political convention.
Ahead of the ‘Panchayat Sanmilan,’ the Union Home Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed Raj Bhavan building.
He will also kick off the year-long commemorations of Golap Borbora's birth, the first non-Congress chief minister of Assam, later in the day.
The Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara will host the conference, which is anticipated to draw some 20,000 elected officials.
This includes 16,671 panchayat representatives from the BJP and over 1,500 from the AGP.
Representatives from all autonomous councils in Assam—such as the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council—will also be in attendance.
The event will bring together top leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including those from the BJP, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Rabha Hasong Joutha Sangram Samiti, and the Janashakti Party.
