Assam: Kokrajhar's historic budget session to focus on administration of the Sixth Schedule areas
Digital Desk: On February 17, Assam's Kokrajhar will host the legislative assembly's inaugural Budget session, which will be held outside of Guwahati for the first time.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that a primary agenda item for the sitting will be to strengthen the administration of Sixth Schedule areas.
The Governor's speech, traditionally delivered on the first day of the Budget session, will also be a major feature of the session.
"It will be a historic occasion because it represents the restoration of peace in the state and the inclusion of all people. Kokrajhar, which was previously the epicenter of the Bodoland struggle, would hold a special one-day Assembly session," he said.
The rest of the Budget session will be held at the main assembly house in Guwahati.
The session will last until March 25, and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will deliver the yearly budget on March 10.
