Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's IndiGo flight amid heavy rain lands safely in Guwahati after rerouted to Agartala
Digital Desk: On August 24, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh to Guwahati was rerouted to Agartala because of Guwahati's ongoing rain and thunderstorms.
When the skies cleared, the IndiGo flight took off from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, according to KC Meena, Director of Agartala Airport.
The Chief Minister's Office said in a statement that the diversion was a preventative step to guarantee the safety of the passengers. Normal flight operations have resumed after the brief diversion, which was without any disruption.
On August 24, airlines issued travel advisories for passengers due to the Guwahati Regional Center of the India Meteorological Department's forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms between 2:30 and 8:30 p.m. Before departing, passengers were also advised by the authorities to keep an eye on updates.
