Assam GST Officer Shines In Rs 870 Crore Tax Fake Invoice Crackdown
Digital Desk: A proud moment dawned in Assam as Surajit Gogoi, Superintendent of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Guwahati, was awarded a Commendation Certificate for his outstanding work in uncovering one of the country's largest tax fraud networks.
The honor was handed during the 8th GST Day festivities at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, in the presence of Revenue Secretary Arvind Shrivastava and CBIC Chairman Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
Gogoi's inquiry into a false invoicing and shell firm racket that robbed the exchequer of almost ₹870 crore in GST income gained national notice. His thorough effort resulted in a recovery totaling ₹430 crore, one of the highest enforcement achievements in recent years.
The operation also resulted in five major arrests and exposed a well-organized network of fake documents, stolen credentials, and numerous layers of false firms. According to officials, Gogoi's enforcement measures have greatly helped to raise national standards for GST intelligence and compliance monitoring.
As Assam strengthens its anti-fraud machinery, this acclaim underscores a resounding truth-- when vigilance meets integrity, even the boldest tax changes can be brought to justice.
