Guwahati: Int'l Yoga Day celebration and Seminar on DPCO 2013 Observed at Regional College of Nursing
Digital Desk: The Assam State Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring and Resource Unit Society (AS-PMRU) celebrated the International Day of Yoga on 21st June at the prestigious Regional College of Nursing in Guwahati.
The event included an instructive session on the Interpretation of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 (DPCO 2013) and a live display of the 'Pharma Sahi Daam' app, which was developed by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Government of India.
Prominent dignitaries, including Gaurav Kr. Bhargav, Project Coordinator, AS-PMRU, Quri Kiron Hazarika, Inspector of Drugs, Kamrup Metro, Prof. (Dr.) Geeta Das, Principal, Regional College of Nursing, and Shri Biswajit Talukdar, Drug Controller, Assam, graced this auspicious day, which was attended enthusiastically by nursing students.
The programme started with a morning yoga session, guided by experts Priyanka Baishya and Anamika Boro, to promote physical and mental well-being.
The second half of the day featured a seminar on pharmaceutical policy and pricing mechanisms in India, with Shri Biswajit Talukdar providing a detailed perspective on the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, and the role of Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring and Resource Units (PMRUs) in safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring accessibility of essential medicines at regulated prices.
Inspector of Drugs, Kamrup Metro, Shi Quri Kiron Hazarika, shared his insights on the practical implications of DPCO compliance and monitoring mechanisms across the state.
The technical session was led by Shri Gaurav Kumar Bhargav, Project Coordinator of the AS-PMRU, who introduced the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and its objectives.
The highlight of the session was the demonstration of the 'Pharma Sahi Daam' mobile application, which enables consumers to check the MRP of scheduled drugs, lodge complaints, and access detailed pricing information in real time.
The day-long program, culminating in the National Anthem, showcased the successful convergence of health, policy, and digital empowerment, aligning with the Government of India's vision for accessible, affordable, and accountable healthcare systems.
